“Receiving the authority of the priesthood by the laying on of hands is an important beginning, but it is not enough. Ordination confers authority, but righteousness is required to act with power as we strive to lift souls, to teach and testify, to bless and counsel, and to advance the work of salvation.
David A. Bednar
When WhenWeGather chooses to ordain a person it is because they have discerned evidence of a Godly unction, have demonstrated gifts of ministry, have seen satisfactory preparation for ministry, and accept the candidate to minister among them. The ordination process provides a clear path to provide leaders and shepherds to help minister, protect, and steward well what God is doing within The Gathering and our areas of influence. The Gathering prayerfully ordains, not to endow with power nor to confer social status, but as a public affirmation of what God has already done in ones life as wells as The Gatherings leadership need. The Gathering has prepared this process to help guide the person through the satisfactory process for not just spiritual accountability but also legal accountability.
Anyone male or female may request being ordained. Pastor Larry and elders also may introduce someone to be ordained through The Gathering. Pastor Larry is directly responsible to walk applicants through the process and has final decision on moving forward with ordination. If Pastor Larry has three recourses of action with each applicant.
If a applicant is flatly rejected than the applicant can request a special hearing with Pastor Larry and Elders. No matter the answer the Board of Elders is the final deciding.
